The 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 has a max tow capacity of 9,600 pounds. There are certain conditions that must be met, though, for the truck to have this impressive capacity limit. First, this is provided that you opt or the Crew Cab Short Box model. This in itself increases tow capacity by 2,500 pounds. Regardless of configuration, if you upgrade to the 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine, that’s another 1,900-pound increase.

The 9,600-pound tow capacity is sufficient for most truck owners, as 96% from a survey indicated their towing needs never exceed 10,000 pounds. Extensive testing also revealed that the 2.7-liter turbo engine exceeded cooling performances, while the 3.0-liter Duramax engine was praised for its rear axle durability.
